Davis Aquaponics Farm strives to give those with Autism an
opportunity to work. The farm’s design is based upon the terms that all spaces will promote sustainability, spark creativity, and foster a positive work environment. Products used within this space are GreenGuard certified to meet sustainable needs to provide a clean and comfortable work environment. All primary work spaces have views to the outside to inspire, spark creativity, and provide natural lighting for employees. The farm takes into deep consideration acoustics, color choices, and patterns in order to adhere to its employees’ needs. Resilient flooring is used to help reduce noise while quiet spaces are available throughout the entire farm. Color association is used
strategically throughout the rooms to help promote the tasks to be completed in each space. Accents of green are used in the aquaponics area to soothe and stimulate creativity. Accents of yellow are used in the classroom to keep a calm environment while learning. Lastly, accents of blue are used in the break room to help employees relax. Simplistic patterns in carpet and brick are used to help provide room recognition for employees. All of the design choices executed in this farm are to help those with Autism thrive in their workspaces.
